Dyskinetic disorders can affect fine manual motor skills, particularly handwriting. We have developed a one-finger device to aid handwriting. This paper reports a case in which dystonic posturing has been prevented with the simplification of the handwriting motor task. Additional kinesiological EMG recordings show a significant alteration in the pattern and quantity of electrical muscle signals using this device.
